Seeds of Love

Soon we will be parting

And I have got the blues

My heart and mind are fighting

Oh which one will I choose

My heart tells me I love you

My mind says it’s too soon

Though the seed becomes the flower

It needs some time to bloom

Once the seed is planted

It will begin to sprout

Like the seed the love in my heart

Is growing without a doubt

But love seeds cost just pennies

And many are planted each year

Without the tending they need to grow

The sprouts will die it’s clear.

Middle School Memories

It’s a cold morning at the bus stop but I don’t mind…

Moments ago, my cousin and I sipped sweet hot coffee and ate scrumptious pastries just like grown-ups at the Donut Hut before school.

Going hungry at lunch was a price worth paying for 30 minutes of tender coming of age connection and deliciousness.

Candles in the Darkness

And you….

Your words haunt me…

We’re so different and yet the same…

Human…connected by the intrusive,

Unwanted that’s beyond our control.

Your reflections reached into my heart

And it broke a little, bled a little, cried a little

Because I remember…

I remember…and

You are not alone
