How I long for the days of innocence when monsters were things like gnarly trees that we imagined coming to life and trapping us in their rugged embrace, or trolls that levied ridiculous tolls to those who dare to try and cross over their bridges.
Real monsters… malevolent, murderous, sadistic, greedy, cruel and hateful… are human and they walk among us.
They are often people we know or those no one would suspect…
The apex predator has been and always will be mankind.
