RIP Unprecedented

Here lies Unprecedented.

He lived well a long life filled with love, laughter, and a shocking number of impressive firsts. Yes there was a smattering of inaugural blunders as well, but the good always outweighed the bad for Unprecedented until the year 2016; That’s when things took a turn for the worse. It began like most years, but as time wore on the reality he was witnessing began to take a toll on his health. His love affair with the news was shattered one soul crushing story at a time until finally he had to turn away in horror. He considered changing his name. Unprecedented used to be associated primarily with fundamentally good things. The onslaught of cardinal abhorrence left him ashamed and dismayed of the moniker he once donned with pride. By 2020 Unprecedented had experienced an alarming number of cardiac events leading up to the big one on January 6th 2021 that would finally take his life. Today we lay Unprecedented down for a much needed rest on a hill overlooking a sea of tranquil waters. In his honor we vow to vindicate his name by restoring the good that was once Unprecedented!

RIP Unprecedented.

Never before 2016 has political news turned my

bowls to water…

The frequency of this occurrence in 2020 would have  

me diagnosed with IBS should I seek a doctor’s care.

My body is not the problem though; it is merely an indicator…of fear…

of a country gone insane with hatred, vitriol and murder.

of our democracy in peril.

of a possible existence I have only seen in foreign lands

of the reversal of my marriage

of the end of life and my country as I have known it.

I think my body’s telling me to get moving, get involved.

I always vote, but now I’m activated!
