Doom-scrolling a 2020 Rhapsody

DSC03908

You open facebook…

Wait what?, Omg, WTF!?, face palm, Holy Crap! This can’t be happening???

You scroll past 2 posts…maybe…if you’re lucky…

Wait what?, Omg, WTF!?, face palm, Holy Crap! This can’t be happening???

You scroll faster trying not to see images of trumps face…and horrible news….past a couple more posts…

Wait what?, Omg, WTF!?, face palm, Holy Crap! This can’t be happening???

It becomes a game to try and find something positive and uplifting, but you persevere…often to your own detriment.

You continue to scroll…desperately now searching for…kitties, puppies, flowers, anything..happy.

Instead you see…pandemic, death, lockdown, murder, mayhem, hatred, violence, racial tensions, protests, sex trafficking pedophiles, political discourse, made up posts shared as facts, fights over masks, science vs religion, right vs left, the kkk is alive and well, and FUCKING MURDER HORNETS…really!?

Wait what?, Omg, WTF!?, face palm, Holy Crap! This can’t be happening???

You want to stay informed, but at some point you just have to step away….from…

Wait what?, Omg, WTF!?, face palm, Holy Crap! This can’t be happening???

And give facebook, the news, social media, and yourself a much needed rest.

    1. Me too Matt. Many of the people I am connected to on facebook I am not connected to off of facebook, so it’s really hard. A lot of people use facebook to stay connected. A one stop shop to keep your friends and loved ones up on all your latest happenings. I love facebook for those reasons, and hate it for others. LOL Hugs

  1. Indeed! I have been off Twitter for the last couple weeks and, same as when I left it before, life feels much better. As humans, we’re so susceptible to suggestion, doom scrolling hasp profound and lasting impacts. I miss the rush, but not the (much longer, harder) crash!

  2. I don’t spend a lot of time on twitter. I have not ever really found my groove there. That said there are things I see on twitter and conversations that I don’t see on facebook, so I keep my account and check it every now and again. I am trying to post a little bit of happy to my social media, even though I have truly been fighting depression ever since trump got into office. I love staying connected with people though and so the balance of good vs evil is an ever present dilemma. Sometimes you simply have to unplug. You are right that the impacts are long lasting. Thank you for reading and commenting. Hugs
